TAG schedules summer art camps for kids

Feb. 22—HIGH POINT — The Art Gallery at Congdon Yards will offer 13 summer art camp sessions this year. All camps will take place at the TAG facility in Congdon Yards, 400 W. English Road, Suite 151.

Here's the list of camps:

—Play & Clay: June 3-6, 9 a.m. to noon, ages 4-6. Students will explore 2-D and 3-D art media, including air-dry clay.

—Personal Pottery: June 11-14, 9 a.m. to noon, ages 4-6. Campers will learn about the history of pottery while using hand-building techniques such as pinch, coils and slabs to create their own pieces.

—Pinch, Coil and Slab Clay Camp: June 10-13, 9 a.m. to noon, ages 6-9. Learn about these different clay techniques to create original, hand-built clay masterpieces.

—I Am an Artist: June 17-20, 9 a.m. to noon, ages 5-7. Participants will explore drawing, painting and printmaking as artists work on creating a variety of masterpieces.

—Let's Paint: June 24-27, 1 to 4 p.m., ages 7-12. Campers will learn tools and techniques for watercolor, tempera and acrylic painting.

—The Wonderful World of Dr. Seuss: July 8-11, 9 a.m. to noon, ages 4-6. Students will experience the joy of creating while using Dr. Seuss' books for inspiration. They will explore various art and craft mediums including drawing, painting, clay, printmaking and more.

—Everything Clay: July 8-11, 1 to 4 p.m., ages 8-14. Students will create some amazing pottery using different hand-building techniques.

—Under the Sea: July 15-18, 1 to 4 p.m., ages 5-8. Participants will explore and create sea life-inspired paintings, crafts and designs in both 2-D and 3-D.

—Music Masterpieces: July 22-25, 9 a.m. to noon, ages 5-10. Campers will use music to inspire their 2-D art.

—A is for Art: July 29-Aug. 1, 9 a.m. to noon, ages 4-6. Art and craft projects for little hands will be the focus as campers draw, paint, cut, glue, construct and build.

—Camp Clay: Aug. 5-8, 1 to 4 p.m., ages 10-15. Hand-building and wheel-throwing will be the focus.

—Upcycled Art: Aug. 12-15, 1 to 4 p.m., ages 9-12. Using a variety of collected treasures, an assortment of recycled items, and lots of imagination, students will transform unconventional materials into stunning art pieces.

—Ink, Stamp, Print: Aug. 19-22, 1 to 4 p.m., ages 8-14. Campers will explore the printing process and will create works of art using different printing techniques such as stamping, monotype, collagraph and relief.
