All Taco Bell locations across the U.S. will give away free seasoned beef Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos on Tuesdays starting Aug. 15 through Sept. 5. The deal is available in stores, online and on the Taco Bell app for pick-up or delivery.

Here's why Taco Bell is giving away free Doritos Locos Tacos

Taco Bell's latest promotion comes after Taco John’s decision to drop its "Taco Tuesday" trademark ownership last month, USA Today reports.

Taco Bell launched a petition in April asking Taco John's to release the trademark of "Taco Tuesday," which it's owned in 49 states for over 40 years. According to USA Today, Taco Bell wanted the phrase to be free to use by anyone "to make, sell, eat, and celebrate tacos." Last month, Taco John's agreed to abandon its trademark for the phrase.

Taco Bell's new free taco promotion serves as a "Thank You" to those who supported the "Free Taco Tuesday" effort, including Akron native LeBron James.
