With menu items like the Doritos Locos Taco and those ooey-gooey Cinnabon Delights, Taco Bell has been ahead of the game for quite some time now. And now the fast food chain has even more up its sleeve with this week's opening of a brand new, drive-thru-focused location in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.

Called Taco Bell Defy and opening June 7, the new restaurant will boast a number of high-tech features, including fast-food elevators that deliver food to drivers. The tiny elevators, created by a company called Vertical Works, will serve as a food lift to quickly move orders to hungry diners.

"The Border Foods team was facing challenges with streamlining the journey from order to meal hand-off, and the Vertical Works team presented a solution to not only address this, but also deliver a more impactful customer experience overall," explained Vertical Works co-founder Mike Strommen.

In addition to the elevators that will keep your Mexican Pizzas safe and warm, Taco Bell Defy will include four drive-thru lanes to help manage traffic. There will be a lane for pre-orders through the Taco Bell app (the fastest option), a lane for delivery drivers, and a lane for traditional drive-thru orders (hey, no judgement here).

Together, these futuristic drive-thru features will work to deliver orders to diners in less than two minutes. The added conveniences arrive at a time when the number of drive-thru consumers is increasing.

Taco Bell Defy has already been labeled "the future" by the president and global COO of the restaurant chain, so don't be too surprised if those tiny food elevators find their way to a Taco Bell near you very soon.
