This top Phoenix chef is putting his own spin on Taco Bell's Crunchwrap Supreme

An unexpected crossover between a lauded Phoenix chef and a fast-food giant is in the works.

Taco Bell recently launched its new TBX collaboration program at an event in Las Vegas during Super Bowl weekend, and chef Lawrence "L.T." Smith of Chilte, which was named one of the best new restaurants in the U.S. last year, was selected as one of three founding members.

Smith was chosen by Taco Bell for his "innovative, off the cuff cooking that’s fun, delicious and unexpected," according to a press release.

In an Instagram post on day of the event, the chef and former professional athlete wrote, "Didn't make it to the Super Bowl with the NFL but I did make it with @tacobell. Thank you for the opportunity to have fun and live más."

Smith will be "remixing" Taco Bell's iconic Crunchwrap Supreme in his own style. Details on how, when and where fans can try his version will be made available later this year.
