DMX’s 2021 death sent shockwaves throughout the Hip-Hop community, leaving many people to ponder about collaborations they never got. T.I. revealed that he and X planned to work together before the Yonkers rapper passed away.

The Atlanta rapper, along with former NBA player Jamal Crawford, joined Shaquille O’Neal on The Big Podcast this past Wednesday (Feb. 28). He told the story of his first time meeting the “Party Up” rapper and how they immediately clicked.

“X came to my house like two weeks before he died. We were planning to work together,” he said. “He came to the studio and I was recording something else. I think by the time I had finished, he had to run to another engagement.” The next time they linked up, X wanted to go to the studio but TIP wasn’t able to meet up due to caring for his children, so the It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot rapper stopped by his home.

“He came by and we just sat up all night ’til four, five in the morning, talking loud in the kitchen,” T.I. said. “I was having margaritas, I think he might have had a beer. Smoking and chilling, just talking like we known each other forever. That was the first time we had ever really [met]. We were talking about kids and he left town that day and I left town, I was taking my kids to Orlando. And we was on the phone planning to meet back up and work again.”

Unfortunately, days later, DMX passed away, but he expressed his interest in working with the ATL actor over a decade prior during an interview.

X’s April 2021 death was caused by a cocaine overdose which led to a heart attack. He spent multiple days in a coma before being pronounced dead at 50 years old.
