T.J. Holmes gets NYC Marathon tattoo

T.J. Holmes has some new ink that’s dear to his heart!

On Tuesday, the former GMA3: What You Need to Know anchor, 46, showed off a new tattoo that holds a special meaning.

#inkupdate #NYCMarathon 11.6.2022 x 11.5.2023,” Holmes captioned an Instagram photo of artwork on his arm. In a split picture, he showed that the design was the route of the TCS New York City Marathon that he’s started running annually.

Beside the tattooed map were the miles he’d run and the dates from this year and last year.

The former television host ran from Staten Island through Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and finished just past Central Park for a little over 26 miles.

In a second photo from the same post, Holmes documented the inking process by showing the tattoo artist with her tools pressed firmly against his arm.

Holmes ran earlier this month with his girlfriend and former GMA3: What You Need to Know co-anchor Amy Robach.

The couple — whose off-camera relationship became public a little more than a year ago — have been regulars on the New York City running circuit, bonding over their love of racing.

NYC marathon always makes me proud to be a New Yorker!” Robach began in a Nov. 6 Instagram post. The cover photo of the carousel showed her and Holmes standing together smiling while embracing one another as they held their medals after they’d crossed the finish line.

“Thank you, everyone for lining the streets and cheering us 50,000 runners on for the full 26.2!! YOU make this race the greatest marathon in the world,” she added.

She later posted another photo from that day to her Instagram Story. "Post race clean up," she wrote above a picture of her wiping his face, adding a laughing emoji.

Seven months before, they ran the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon together in March.

The pair made headlines after photos surfaced of the two of them holding hands in a car during a vacation in upstate New York and cozying up at a bar in November 2022. Holmes and Robach, 50, were both married to other people at the time — Robach was married to actor Andrew Shue, while Holmes was married to attorney Marilee Fiebig.

In late January 2023, PEOPLE confirmed that Holmes and Robach would not be returning to their roles with the program as ABC investigated their romance.

We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions," an ABC spokesperson said in a statement.

On Nov. 1, 2023, Holmes and Robach made their relationship “Instagram official” with a special announcement.

"How's this for instagram official? #silentnomore 🎤," they said in a joint social media post announcing the launch of their new podcast.

"Amy & T.J." December 5th. Listen on the iHeartRadio app and everywhere podcasts are heard. @amyandtjpodcast,” the post concluded.
