Anyone But You, which hit theaters in December, follows former college enemies who reunite years later for a destination wedding, where they pretend to be a couple and eventually fall in love.

Along with Sweeney and Powell, 35, the film also stars Dermot Mulroney, Rachel Griffiths, Alexandra Shipp, Michelle Hurd, Bryan Brown, Darren Barnet and Hadley Robinson.

The project was directed by Will Gluck, a mastermind of the romantic comedy genre, who previously made Friends with Benefits starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis and Easy A starring Emma Stone and Penn Badgley.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last month, Sweeney spoke about a potential sequel to Anyone But You.

Highlighting the movie's box office success, having earned more than $200 million worldwide, the star told host Jimmy Fallon that there is "maybe, like, a high nine chance" of a follow-up film being made.

"Oh really? That's what I'm talking about! I can't wait to see it," Fallon, 49, responded, before Sweeney added, "I'm just so thankful that everybody's loving it."

Powell, meanwhile, has also expressed interest in teaming up with Sweeney again, telling Variety on the 2024 SAG Awards red carpet that he would love to collaborate once more.

“When you find somebody that you really jive with, Sydney is so easy to work with and so fun. We’re definitely trying to find the next thing. Please send us all the scripts you got," Powell told the outlet. "You know we’re here for it."

"It’s been really wonderful to read a lot. Sydney reads everything, by the way, and in record time," he added. "She’s the fastest reader I think I’ve ever met. It takes me a little longer, but we’re reading everything and just trying to see what makes sense, what we can turn into something that audiences are going to respond to.”

Anyone But You is currently available to purchase and stream online.
