Sydney Sweeney Puts Contemporary Twist on the Little Black Dress With Exposed Hips in Miu Miu for ‘Immaculate’ Mexico City Red Carpet

Sydney Sweeney‘s press tour for her film “Immaculate” continued with a press conference in Mexico City on Thursday. The actress and producer was joined by costar Álvaro Morte for the occasion.

For the press conference, Sweeney fashioned a look by a designer that’s become an essential part of her style sensibility. The actress wore a black dress from Miu Miu’s fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection, which featured hip exposures. Sweeney paired the short-sleeve midi dress with a pair of black gloves and finished the look with pointed-toe heels with glittering embellishments on the straps.

Sweeney’s soft, clean makeup look was done by Melissa Hernandez, while her hair was styled by Glen Oropeza. Sweeney’s look was curated by stylist Molly Dickson, who’s recently worked with “Stranger Things” star Sadie Sink and Bella Hadid. Dickson was assisted by Jenna Filingeri.

The dress Sweeney fashioned for her recent “Immaculate” press event made its runway debut during Paris Fashion Week in March. Italian fashion designer Miuccia Prada’s collection featured a series of wardrobe staples in a “slyly warped” and “idealized” way, as noted in WWD’s review of the collection.

“Classic items from all moments — and you can choose the child, you can choose the lady,” the designer said of her collection after the show. “I show possibilities — of course, fashion possibilities that I think are relevant now — and definitely you can choose.” Taking, for example, the classic little black dress and putting her own spin on the look by hip exposures elevated the look.

Miu Miu has been an indispensible label in Sweeney’s red carpet wardrobe as of late. For the GLAAD Media Awards last March, the Emmy-nominated actress fashioned a silver silk gown with glittering embellishments on the bust and off-the-shoulder straps, evocative of classic Hollywood glamour.

Sweeney also wore a Miu Miu design for the New York premiere of her film “Anyone But You” in December 2023. The gown featured glittering crystal embellishments and a semi-sheer skirt.
