Sydney Sweeney is entering her horror era with her upcoming film. On Thursday, Neon released the trailer for Immaculate, out March 22, which sees the actress playing a nun pregnant with an evil “miracle.”

The trailer starts with her character Cecilia, an American nun, moving to a convent in Italy after she says, “I know God saved me for a reason, but I’m still searching for what that reason is.”

As she gets acclimated to the creepy establishment, she soon learns that things aren’t as they seem. She gets an ultrasound and realizes she’s pregnant. “Of all the women in the world, why would he choose me?”

Sweeney witnesses a suicide, gets dressed as the Virgin Mary, is slapped by an evil nun, and is drowned all in the 2-minute trailer. “Suffering is love,” repeats a nun.

“Cecilia’s warm welcome quickly devolves into a nightmare as it becomes clear her new home harbors a sinister secret and unspeakable horrors,” read a description of the film.

Immaculate, directed by Michael Mohan, also stars Simona Tabasco from The White Lotus, along with Benedetta Porcaroli, Dora Romano, Álvaro Morte, and Giorgio Colangeli.

Sweeney, who is also a producer on Immaculate, spoke to Deadline about the film last year. “It’s madness. I go unhinged, which always is fun,” she told the outlet. “But it’s also beautiful. I really wanted to make sure that it was a beautifully shot horror film because we were filming in such a beautiful location. Rome is stunning, so I wanted to do the locations justice.”

Last year, Sweeney starred in films Reality, Americana, and Anyone but You with Glen Powell. She’s also set to star as Spider-Woman in Madame Web, out Feb. 14.
