Sydney Sweeney Horror ‘Immaculate’ Acquired By Neon

Neon has snapped up U.S. rights to Immaculate, a new horror film produced by and starring Sydney Sweeney (Anyone But You), for release in theaters on a date not yet disclosed.
News of the deal comes as Neon & pic’s producer Black Bear await the nationwide Christmas Day release of Michael Mann’s Ferrari. Other forthcoming projects on which the companies have teamed include Osgood Perkins’ Longlegs, starring Nicolas Cage and Maika Monroe, and Asif Kapadia’s 2073.

Directed by Michael Mohan, Immaculate follows Cecilia (Sweeney), a woman of devout faith who is offered a fulfilling new role at an illustrious Italian convent. Her warm welcome to the picture-perfect Italian countryside is soon interrupted as it becomes clearer to Cecilia that her new home harbors some dark and horrifying secrets.
Scripted by Andrew Lobel, the film also stars The White Lotus breakout Simona Tabasco, as well as Alvaro Morte (Money Heist), Benedetta Porcaroli (Baby), and Dora Romano (The Hand of God).
Sweeney developed the project alongside Middle Child Pictures’ David Bernad, following her collaboration with the producer on The White Lotus. In addition to Sweeney and Bernad, producers included Jonathan Davino for Sweeney’s Fifty-Fifty Films, as well as Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler for Black Bear, which fully financed the project and repped international sales rights. Exec producers are Black Bear’s John Friedberg and Christopher Casanova, as well as Will Greenfield.
Neon’s Vice President of Acquisitions & Production Jason Wald negotiated the deal on behalf of the company, with CAA Media Finance and Paradigm on behalf of the filmmakers.
