Sydney Sweeney dons Angelina Jolie's Oscars dress 20 years later: 'An honor to wear a piece of history'

Sweeney brought some vintage glamour to the Vanity Fair Oscars party.
Classic looks are eternal.
Sydney Sweeney proved that on Sunday night when she attended the Vanity Fair Oscars party and stepped out in an archival Marc Bouwer dress, the very same gown Angelina Jolie wore to the Academy Awards back in 2004.

The dress screams Hollywood bombshell with its slinky white satin lines and its plunging neckline, so it's fitting that Sweeney is picking up the mantle from Jolie, who at the peak of her fame was renowned for her striking beauty.
Jolie was not Oscar nominated in 2004, but merely an attendee. Her Bouwer gown made most of the Best Dressed lists that year, and it was considered a major moment in Jolie's development as a style icon.
Sweeney wasn't the only one to wear an archival gown Sunday night. Jennifer Lawrence also attended the Vanity Fair party in a vintage Givenchy gown.
Sweeney has yet to star in an Oscar-nominated project, but she's one of Hollywood's hottest young actresses, following her breakout success on Euphoria and the slow-burn box office triumph of romantic comedy, Anyone But You, which she also produced.
Next up, she'll star in pregnant nun horror film, Immaculate, another made up her production company's shingle. And she is attached to produce and star in a remake of Jane Fonda's iconic, sexy sci-fi picture, Barbarella.
Jolie largely took a break from movies for the last decade, but she was last seen on screen in Marvel's Eternals. She will next portray opera singer Maria Callas in Pablo Larrain's biopic of the renowned performer.
