The first round of film and television programming for the South by Southwest Festival and Conference includes world premieres of action flick "The Fall Guy," with Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, and comedy "Babes," with Ilana Glazer and Michelle Buteau. The festival will also host the premiere of "3 Body Problem," the new sci-fi series from "Game of Thrones" creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss and Emmy Award nominee Alexander Woo.

Other world premieres coming to SXSW 2024 include the third season of the HBO series "Hacks," the miniseries "Black Twitter," the documentary "Cheech and Chong's Last Movie" and the final season of "Star Trek: Discovery." Check out the full lineup here.

In addition to a robust film and TV program, SXSW will host iHeartMedia's iHeartPodcast Awards.

Here's what you need to know about the programming for SXSW this year:

Ryan Gosling plays an aging stunt man in "The Fall Guy"

In his latest feature, Ryan Gosling takes on the role of stunt man Colt Seavers that Lee Majors originated in the hit 1980s TV show, "The Fall Guy." Emily Blunt co-stars as Jody Moreno, Seavers' film director and ex. Sidelined by an accident, Seavers is drafted back into action to find a missing actor. He becomes enmeshed in a conspiracy while trying to win back the love of his life.

The ensemble cast also includes Winston Duke from "Black Panther" and Golden Globe winner Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Ilana Glazer wrote, produced and stars in 'Babes'

The comedy "Babes" from comedian Ilana Glazer of "Broad City" will see its world premiere at SXSW.

Ilana Glazer and her "Broad City" collaborator Josh Rabinowitz teamed up to write and produce this comedy about a single woman Eden (Glazer) who becomes pregnant after a one-night stand. Her friend Dawn (Michelle Buteau), a married mother of two, helps guide her through the pregnancy.

The film, which is the directorial debut of actress and writer Pamela Adlon, also stars Hasan Minhaj and John Carroll Lynch.

'3 Body Problem' from 'Game of Thrones' creators, Alexander Woo leads SXSW TV lineup

The new Netflix sci-fi epic "3 Body Problem" from "Game of Thrones" creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss and Alexander Woo will get its premiere at SXSW.
The new Netflix sci-fi epic "3 Body Problem" from "Game of Thrones" creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss and Alexander Woo will get its premiere at SXSW.

Based on the epic sci-fi novel "3 Body Problem" by Cixin Liu, the highly anticipated Netflix series of the same name follows as "a close-knit group of brilliant scientists join forces with an unorthodox detective to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history."

The sprawling tale takes the viewer from China during the 1960s Cultural Rebellion to present-day New York and Oxford, England, and into a celestial beyond. The ensemble cast includes Benedict Wong, Jess Hong, Jovan Adepo and Eiza González.

The show is the first completed David Benioff and D.B. Weiss project since "Game of Thrones" ended in 2019.

Worth noting: Netflix is hosting a "3 Body Problem" immersive experience at the Consumer Technology Association's CES expo in Las Vegas this week so it seems likely we'll get some sort of creepy Austin counterpart.
