It's that time of year again — permits for South by Southwest are being submitted to the city and we've taken a peek.

Here's what we learned by looking at the city's permit calendar:

You'll be able to see a bunch of bees.

Manuka Health, a honey company, has applied for a permit to host a photo gallery called "The Seduction of the Honey Bee" at Banger's Sausage House & Beer Garden, 79 Rainey St., March 9-10. The permit is still in review, according to the city.

The event description says it is an art exhibit featuring UV photography of bees and flowers.

SPIN Magazine is hosting a ticketed day party at Stubb's BBQ.

OK, we found this one in our inbox and not on the city's website. But we're excited about it so we had to include it here!

SPIN Magazine is hosting Sunny Day Real Estate on the band's tour stop in Austin at Stubb's BBQ, 801 Red River St. Matt Pryor, the lead singer of the Get Up Kids, will play an acoustic set and SPIN Magazine officials say more acts are to be announced. The show will run from noon to 4 p.m. on March 16. Unlike past years, when the SPIN party was a free event, this year's shindig will be ticketed. Tickets can be purchased at: ticketmaster.com.

South by San José is celebrating its 25th year.

Live music and local vendors have converged at Jo's Coffee, 1300 South Congress Ave., since 2000 and 2024 is expected to be no different. The event's permit is still in review by the city, but is anticipated to run March 13-17 with music starting at noon.

The party will be free to attend.

Free live music in a parking lot is what SXSW is all about. SoCo Stomp is expected to return to SXSW for its second year for a five-day music festival at C-Boys Heart & Soul, 2008 South Congress Ave., March 13-17.

The event's permit is still in review, but the SoCo Stomp website says the event will run noon to 7:30 p.m. each day. The shows are not an official SXSW event. More information can be found at: socostomp.com.
