Swoon alert: Watch Jake Gyllenhaal and Rufus Wainwright sing a heartfelt Everly Brothers song

Gee whiz, indeed.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Rufus Wainwright took the stage at New York’s Lincoln Center on Wednesday to perform the Everly Brothers’ “All I Have to Do Is Dream” together. If you haven’t heard the song before, its heartfelt lyrics, coupled with Wainwright’s dulcet tones and Gyllenhaal’s, well, everything, are enough to make anyone swoon.

Fortunately, Gyllenhaal shared a video of the performance on Instagram; unfortunately, it’s less than a minute long, but it still ought to be sufficient. Take a look:

The performance was part of Lincoln Center’s ongoing American Songbook concert series, which “highlights the unique ability of the human voice to convey natural emotion and express a universal and personal story,” per the series’ website.

Though primarily known for his intense, transformative acting roles in such films as Nightcrawler and Brokeback Mountain, Gyllenhaal has shown off his vocal chops in the past. He once performed “Maria” from West Side Story, also at Lincoln Center, as part of a tribute to composer Leonard Bernstein, and played the title role in the recent Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim‘s Sunday in the Park with George. (If you’re not a musical theatre aficionado, you should know that neither of those are easy.)

Most recently, Gyllenhaal appeared as “Mr. Music” in Netflix’s John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch, singing about how music can be found everywhere. If you haven’t seen that yet, you’re in for a treat.
