Having defeated General Abbot (Neil Sandilands) in the battle at Pubba’s Cabin, Gus (Christian Convery), Jepperd (Nonso Anozie), Becky (Stefania LaVie Owen) and Wendy (Naledi Murray) embark on a journey to Alaska in search of Gus’s mother, Birdie (Amy Seimetz), who’s been working to uncover the mysterious origins of the deadly Sick. “Along the way, they are joined by Dr. Singh (Adeel Akhtar), who may have his own dangerous beliefs about Gus and his role in reversing the virus,” reads the official description. “Meanwhile, a new threat emerges in the form of Helen Zhang (Rosalind Chao), her daughter Rosie (new cast member Kelly Marie Tran of Star Wars fame), and the ferocious Wolf Boys, who seek to restart human birth and view Gus as the solution to their plans.”

As time begins to run out, alliances are tested and destinies intertwine, “all leading to a thrilling climax that will determine the fate of humanity and hybrids.”

In the season’s first footage (watch the trailer embedded above), we catch our first glimpses of a snowy Alaska, as Gus and his crew head north in search of Birdie. But hot on their tails is a mysterious (and quite large!) beast with giant hooves, which just might stand in their way. Big Man closes out the clip with an unsettling and very ominous statement: “You got nothing to live for until you got something to die for.”

In Season 2, Gus and a band of fellow hybrids were held prisoner by Abbot and his Last Men, who were using the children as fodder for their experiments. Meanwhile, Jepperd and Aimee Eden (Dania Ramirez) raced the clock to save kids before it was too late. (Refresh yourself with our finale recap and interview with Nonso Anozie.)
