Actor Peter Stormare to Topline Crime Series ‘Black Widows’

Actor Peter Stormare is set to topline “Black Widows” (working title), a crime series adapted from the eponymous Finnish hit skein.

Comprising eight one hour-episodes, “Black Widows” is being co-produced by MTG’s free-TV channel TV3 and online streaming service Viaplay.

“Black Widows” is “the perfect drama series. Cross-border drama have increased in popularity quite a lot in recent years, and with ‘Black Widows’ we have a winning drama concept for multiple platforms in multiple countries,” said Morten Mogensen,chief content officer for MTG Free-TV Scandinavia.

“I’m excited that TV3 is going into drama and even more excited to be a part of it,” said Stormare, who will star alongside three Scandinavian actresses.

Jakob Mejlhede Andersen, exec VP of programming and content development for MTG, said “Black Widows” will add to the platform’s strong series offering. “We have been looking for the perfect project to co-produce between our TV channels and Viaplay, and we believe ‘Black Widows’ will capture audiences both on screen and online,” added Andersen.

Shooting will begin this summer for an expected broadcast in Sweden, Norway and Denmark in 2016.
