Sutton Stracke Reflects on the Loss of Her Father: "I Now Just Miss Him"

Season 13 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has allowed Sutton Stracke to open up about her personal life like never before. Not only has the Southern socialite shared what led to her divorce from her ex-husband, Christian Stracke, but she also unveiled her rare esophagus disorder, a health issue that affects her diet.

Now, on Episode 11 of RHOBH, which aired on January 10, the SUTTON Concept boutique owner is reflecting on the loss of her father, John Brown, who passed away in December 2002. Keep reading to hear what Sutton shared about her late dad and how she’s helping others in his honor.

During the episode, Sutton and the other cast members attended Kyle Richards’ event in honor of her late best friend, Lorene. While at the venue, Sutton became a bit emotional as she listened to Kyle’s speech about mental health, which seemingly caused her to think of her dad, John.

In a confessional, Sutton shared that she was “supposed to be at [her] family’s house” at the “exact time” of John’s passing. Sutton continued to say that for years, she reminisced on whether the unfortunate event would’ve happened had she been with her father.

Eventually, coming to terms with the sudden passing of her loved one, Sutton went on to admit that she aches for him not having the chance to spend time with her three kids, Porter, James, and Philip.

“I now just miss him,” Sutton said, adding, “I miss that he’s not seeing my children.”

She continued: “He’d be really… No, I also learned this. He is really proud of my children. He is really proud of me because he’s still with us.”

Sutton Stracke’s tribute to her late father

On December 23, Sutton took to Instagram to share a post that included a photo of her and John, along with a screenshot of a self-care checklist to help people battling mental illness or loved ones who lost someone to it.

In the caption, the mom of three took the time to write an encouraging message while highlighting her father’s passing. “Today my sweet father took his own life 21 years ago,” Sutton wrote. “[National Alliance on Mental Illness] has helped me understand and cope with harbored emotions surrounding suicide and being left a victim. Please read and share.”

She concluded, “May we all stay safe in love and peace this holiday season.

Taking to the comments were lots of Bravolebs, who showed their support to Sutton, including her castmate Crystal Kung Minkoff, who wrote, “Sending you love today.” While Kathy Hilton commented three prayer hand emojis, and The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Cynthia Bailey left a red heart.
