Suspect ID’d in assault of actor Steve Buscemi in NYC: police

KIPS BAY, Manhattan (PIX11) – Police have identified the suspect accused of punching actor Steve Buscemi in the face in New York City last week.

The NYPD identified 50-year-old Clifton Williams as the suspect in the case.

Buscemi was punched on Third Avenue near East 27th Street in Kips Bay, Manhattan, around 11:45 a.m. on May 8, police said.

The 66-year-old actor suffered bruising, swelling and bleeding to his left eye, authorities said. Buscemi was treated at a hospital after the incident and is doing OK, according to his publicist.

“Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city,” Buscemi’s publicist said in a statement Sunday. “He is ok and appreciates everyone’s well wishes.”

The NYPD previously released surveillance images of the suspect, who still hasn’t been arrested.
