Susan Tedeschi joins Kyle Meredith to talk about the 25th anniversary edition of Just Won’t Burn. The Tedeschi Trucks Band member explains why she found herself attracted to the blues and how the style was finding its mainstream footing in the ’90s. She also discusses how Just Won’t Burn marked a turning point in her career.

“It was my first record on a label and it got me my first Grammy nominee,” Tedeschi says. She would then go on her first tour with the album, which saw her opening for The Allman Brothers and meeting her husband. “So, [this album] changed my world in a lot of ways.”

Tedeschi goes on to reveal how Led Zeppelin and grunge music inspired some of her darker songs, the time she once played her own high school prom, and how she privately wants to make a punk album (though, she admits, she may need help from someone like Dave Grohl).
