A 'Survivor' watch party to remember

On Wednesday night, we experienced "Survivor" in a whole new way.

I've written about my fandom of the long-running reality show in this space before, so it will come as no surprise to regular readers that my wife and I attended a "Survivor" watch party at the University of Mississippi this week.

Mississippi native, current Memphis-area realtor and Season 46 "Survivor" star Quintavius "Q" Burdette stopped by his alma mater for the party, hosted by the Ole Miss Alumni Association at McCormick's at the Inn at Ole Miss, along with fellow castaway Tevin Davis, another fan favorite from the current season.

The "Survivor" stars took photos with fans before and after the show, and the alumni association held drawings during commercial breaks to give away custom Ole Miss "SIP" hats with the word "SURVIVOR" embroidered on the side, along with "Come to the Sip" hoodies, which Q dubbed a "Q-Skirt" after tying a hoodie around his waist on the show.

Q is one of the most unique and entertaining players to compete on "Survivor" in years, and the energy and reactions of the dozens of fans in the room as the episode aired made the experience far more exciting than tuning in at home — especially while seeing Q win a reward challenge and survive yet another Tribal Council.

The night ended with comments from Q and Tevin, and a group photo of everyone in attendance.

They say Ole Miss has never lost a party. The same goes for "Survivor" watch parties. Who knew?
