Why ‘Survivor’ Contestant’s Emotional Reaction to Blindside Was Surprising

Michaela Bradshaw has been one tough cookie during her time on Survivor, so it was a bit surprising to see her break down in tears after a blindside at tribal council. And that wasn’t the only strange thing about Michaela’s emotional response.

Nobody had any idea what was going to happen at tribal council, even after Jeff Probst had read all but two of the votes. With eight votes read, Sierra and Zeke were tied with three votes apiece, and the other two were for Tai. Tai’s name was a surprise because the struggle in the majority alliance had been between voting out Sierra, or blindsiding Zeke. Michaela was firmly on the “voting out Sierra” side, saying, “I don’t see how getting rid of Zeke right now is a smart move. They don’t seem to see that if you leave four people on the bottom, they only need one more person to be in the majority for the rest of the game.”

So when the last two votes were for Zeke, making him the fourth person on the jury, it was understandable that Michaela broke down in tears. Although, it was a little weird to see her show an emotion other than joy, anger, or frustration. And it was even more strange to see her show no emotion at all when she wrote down Zeke’s name.

We’ll just have to wait until next week to find out if it was all a show, or if Michaela truly was truly upset by Zeke’s departure.

Survivor airs Wednesday at 8 p.m. on CBS.
