In this week’s “Survivor 46” deleted scene (watch above), Hunter McKnight sneaks away from camp in order to eat his coconut in peace. The 28-year-old science teacher from Mississippi hoped that the tropical fruit would give him energy to win that day’s immunity challenge, but alas, he lost and was later voted out of the game — angering many “Survivor” fans across the web.

The clip begins on Day 17 at the Nuinui camp, shortly after Tevin Davis was voted out at the same tribal council in which Q Burdette mused about quitting. Venus Vafa is heard telling Q, “It’s a new day,” as she predicts she will “kill” the upcoming three-on-three-on-three challenge. As viewers know, that immunity challenge was actually won by Charlie Davis, with Hunter coming in second place and Maria Shrime Gonzalez placing third.

The video then shifts focus to Hunter, who’s sitting alone at the beach chomping on his coconut. He explains, “It’s a crazy blur after tribal last night, so I’m not entirely sure where everybody stands. But, in the meantime, I don’t really want to share my coconut with people that I broke open.” He laughs, “So I came over here to watch the ocean and to eat by myself, ’cause I found a particularly good one.”

As for the impending challenge, Hunter notes, “I’m still not sure where the lines are drawn in this tribe, and I would like to be the one to perform the best in the challenge. I’ll probably help them find a coconut and open it for them, but for now, I’m gonna make sure I have my energy ready in case I have to win this challenge today.” After Hunter lost the challenge, he ended up being eliminated (after a revote due to tying with Q) while holding an idol in his pocket.

“Survivor 46” continues airing every Wednesday night on CBS until the winner is crowned during the season finale on May 22, 2024.
