“Survivor 46” cast reveal the twists they did not want to see on their season

And one of them has already happened.

There is one twist above all others that Tiffany Nicole Ervin did not want to see on Survivor 46. “I don't want to see the Beware Advantages,” Tiffany told Entertainment Weekly in Fiji just two days before the game began. “Like, girl, if you going to give me an advantage, let it be advantageous. Don't make me have to do all this crazy s--- to get it.”

Cut to day two of the of the game and what does Tiffany discover… but a Beware Advantage. And yes, it made her do some “crazy s---” to get it. Perhaps it was fate, but at least by the end of day three, Tiffany got an immunity idol out of it.

But what other twists did the cast of Survivor 46 (which airs Wednesdays on CBS) want absolutely no part of? Well, Jess Chong probably spoke for both the entire cast and fanbase when she responded with “The hourglass, probably. That twist sucks. Sorry! I think everyone universally acknowledges that it sucks.” She’s right. Even host Jeff Probst, who came up with the idea, has admitted it was a huge mistake.

Several others also mentioned the hourglass twist, and another wrinkle that players wanted no part of was the idol nullifier (which was last used on Survivor 42, although it never made it to air). Hunter McKnight was one of the contestants that hoped not to come up against one on season 46. “I do not want to see an idol nullifier come into play because there's no play around with it,” he told EW. “It is a full force. If we play this against somebody, they're going home. There's no workaround to it. And so I hate when gameplay is ruined like that.”

However, Hunter does have an idea for a way to change the idol nullifier rules to make it more to his liking. “Now, here's how they could tweak it, is if you play an idol nullifier for somebody and they don't play an idol, that automatically makes them safe. And so now there's risk in playing the idol nullifier. But as it is, if I want Johnny to go home, it doesn't matter if he has an idol or if he doesn't have an idol, or if he plays or if he doesn't play it — he is going home. And so that small tweak. Or just take it out. Just get rid of it.”

We’re actually totally on board with Hunter’s suggestion, for the record. And then, there is Liz Wilcox, who does not want production putting fake idols into the game (like with the season 44 birdcages). “They already look like s---,” says Liz. “We don't need more of them. We can make our own. I think it's more fun to make your own because you get to see the player have the idea and execute the idea rather than someone giving you that idea. Save the giving for food. Let's get some food up in here. We don't really need fake idols.”

So far so good on that one, Liz! But there is plenty more season to be played. To see the entire cast call out the twists they did not want to see on Survivor 46, watch the video above.
