“Survivor 46” cast reveal their biggest pet peeves (grilled cheese edition)

Intense staring, lazy walking in flip-flops, and "bodily sounds" are on the hit list.

The cast of Survivor 46 is seriously peeved! Okay, that may be a slight exaggeration. If anything, the players of season 46 originally seemed less peeved than their counterparts from previous installments. That’s because the contestant bios for earlier seasons contained a “pet peeves” section in which folks could rail against the seemingly insignificant things that nonetheless drove them absolutely crazy. However, the pet peeves were sadly absent from the Survivor 46 bios.

THIS SHALL NOT STAND! Which is why we here at Entertainment Weekly flew all the way to Fiji before the start of Survivor 46 to force the entire cast to reveal their pet peeves and be judged in the process. Judged by whom? By you!

So take a gander at each of the players and the pet peeves below. Whose are the most bizarre? Whose are completely understandable? And how many pet peeves does Moriah have, exactly? You can watch the video below, or read all the text, to learn for yourself.

Tiffany Nicole Ervin

I hate when people are rude to others for no reason. I have literally ended friendships because I went to a restaurant and somebody was rude to the waitress for no reason at all. Number two, I hate willful ignorance. Google is free. Look it up, or just shut up. Not knowing things is okay, but to be willfully ignorant about people or their cultures or just choosing not to engage because you don't want to? Gag me with a spoon. And then third, super random: I hate spitting. It literally makes me want to vomit and not just, like, a little “I have something in my mouth.” That's nasty. I can't deal with it.

Bhanu Gopal

Unwashed things, uncleaned places. When we live at a certain place, we need to keep the area clean, and it gets on my nerves and when people are just being lazy and not doing stuff. God, it drives me nuts.

Ben Katzman

My pet peeve — and it's like ironic that I'm about to play Survivor, when people are a poser to themselves — yeah, this is a game where obviously you got to play into a character role or a dynamic, but I think in life you got to always be open to experience and you got to not always be so sure of yourselves. Because the risk you take affects your journey. And I think my pet peeve is people who are always way too sure of themselves.

Soda Thompson

My pet peeve, one of them, is repetition of the same thing over and over again. Which is ironic, because I'm hard of hearing in my right ear, so sometimes I need people to repeat things. But if you just willingly repeat stuff all the time, I'm going to look at you like you're crazy. I don't like that. Or if you're staring into my soul — I'm from New York. We don't do that. You got two seconds, you park and pass, okay? You drive, you park and pass. You do not sit there and stare at me. I will literally get so annoyed, and I'll hate your guts — until you come and talk to me and make it better and stop staring at me.

Moriah Gaynor

Number one, mansplaining. I'm not going to explain it to you because duh. Number two, people who vote on down ballot issues randomly. NO! People pour their heart and soul into these propositions in local races. Do your homework. It's just a person or an issue. You could do it.

Three, I'm going to go with restaurants who list something as a grilled cheese, but it has a ton of ingredients in it. There's a huge difference to me between a grilled cheese and a grilled sandwich with cheese, and it just seems disrespectful. Number four, online orders that make you print something to return them. If I had a printer, I wouldn't be using an online store, so they need to work on that.

Car analogies at Tribal Council — they're lazy. We could do better. It's 46. Come on, just choose a different automobile — a motorcycle, a vehicle, I don't care. Not a car. It's trite. It's done with. The word lisp — as someone who has one, the S is rude. People who touch your hair, who are just like, “Oh, I love your hair!” or ask what you put in it — it's natural. (It's not.) Mind your business.

Q Burdette

One of my pet peeves that I think if it's not controlled soon enough, it might get me voted out, is people not carrying their weight around camp. We have a responsibility to do our job every single day at camp, and if there's someone that's slacking in that department, I can't bite my tongue for too long. I might say something.

Jem Hussain-Adams

Oh, Lord. So one of my biggest pet peeves is people chewing with their mouth open. It's going to drive me insane once we officially start playing. I just don't like the sound of people chewing.

Tim Spicer

When I'm speaking and someone says, “I hate to cut you off,” and they start speaking. It's like they're not really sorry and they're really just blowing smoke. It's kind of demeaning to my whole thought process and what I'm even talking about, but that's definitely one of my biggest pet peeves and I don't like when people do that.

Hunter McKnight

I'm someone who wants to get to where he is going, and I have longer legs, and so I walk pretty fast. But whenever there's a group of people that clump on the sidewalk and walk slowly, it drives me insane. Either get in a straight line and take up one half or get out of the way, because people are walking here. Man, this is not social hour. We're trying to get places. It drives me insane. I guess another pet peeve is people who are just apathetic because they're too afraid to try for risk of failure. I face this all the time with kids. It drives me insane when someone is too afraid to put themselves out there for risk of failure.

Venus Vafa

There are so many. Do you have time? I have so many pet peeves. The list can go on and on. I think the biggest one for me is if you burp in my ear, I will instantly vomit. I already know there's someone who sleeps next to me at Ponderosa who's been burping nonstop, and I'm just holding my gags back. So hopefully there's not too much of that. Another pet peeve, I just don't like bodily sounds. If you fart, burp, even sneezing kind of annoys me sometimes. So I guess I'm going to be in for a wild ride on Survivor. I hear people get really close.

Charlie Davis

My pet peeve is pretty specific. Any runner will tell you they have heard someone yell out of their car window, “Run, Forest, run!” to them about a million times over the course of their running careers. It is so annoying and so overdone that it just makes me want to throw up. Don't yell “Run, Forest, run!” at the poor unassuming runners. Just let them go on. Don't say anything. Let them have their peace. Just let them be.

Maria Shrime-Gonzalez

My pet peeves are people that chew with their mouth open, people that smack their gum, and people that drag their feet when they walk in flip-flops. I don't like lazy people, and to me that's a lazy way of walking, and so pick up your damn feet, man!

Randen Montalvo

One thing is when people overdramatize their message. For instance, there was a season when Karla was literally doing a soap opera of grift with somebody — tears crying, everything. I couldn't hold my composure at that moment because I already know what time it was.

Kenzie Petty

My pet peeve that has been on high since we've been here is listening to people chew. I feel like I'm in hell because we can't talk to each other, and all there is is chewing. It's the only mouth sound I hear from people, and because no one is talking, it's just amplified. The chewing is gnawing at my brain.

I'm not a big misogynist girl. I have a really hard time getting along with men who think they know more than me in a demeaning way. If they think they know more than me and they're helping me, cool. If they're trying to explain something to me, I have a hard time with that.

Tevin Davis

I don't like people making anyone feel like they are less than them. Like, “Oh, I'm better than you,” or that kind of energy. I don't like people smacking their lips real loud when they're eating. The salivation of your lips makes me sick and want to vomit in my mouth. Everything else, I'm pretty chill about. I'm like, whatever. I'm in my own little zone. I'm cool.

Jess Chong

I don't like it when people wear their shoes in my house. I don't like it when somebody in my household leaves the toilet seat up and then I go to the bathroom at night and sit on the naked toilet bowl. It's really gross and cold and sticky. I have a hard time dealing with people that take themselves too seriously. I can either make them feel very uncomfortable or make them mad just by talking, so they're kind of a pet peeve — but that's a huge swath of the human population.

Liz Wilcox

My pet peeve, I've only got one of 'em. I'm a pretty go-with-the-flow chick. I hate inefficiency, waste of any kind. I always say I'm a two-step chick. If it takes three steps, I'm out. I always want to find the quickest way to get something done. Number one, it's really bad for your mental health to put all these roadblocks in front of you. It's inefficient and it's really bad for your mental health. And as far as in the physical world, it's really bad for the environment to have waste. I don't know if it's this fire and fervor that I have inside of me for life where I see waste and I think: Oh, what a waste.

David Jelinksy

Something about me that I cannot stand would have to be people chewing gum, any sort of gum chewing. Even if you're not chewing it obnoxiously. I'm like, “Oh my God.” I would prefer you not to even open your mouth at all when you chew your gum, please, and don't be near me either.
