“Survivor 45” contestant Dee Valladares is ready to follow in the footsteps of players like Sandra Diaz-Twine as the next Latina female winner. The 26-year-old entrepreneur who emigrated from Cuba and now lives in Miami says she’s “been hustling [her] entire life,” so getting “down and dirty” for the million dollar prize is something she’s willing to do. Watch their full CBS interview below.

“I think someone will look at me and just be like, ‘Oh gosh she’s like a pretty face and she doesn’t like to get down and dirty,'” says Dee. “But I’ll get dirty like anything. We’re not here to look pretty. We’re here to win.” For Dee, “dirty” shouldn’t be interpreted as being a villain though because ultimately Dee hopes to be “someone who cared about the people around her.” She says, “People don’t forget how you make them feel” — an outlook that should come in handy if she’s sitting in front of the jury at the end.

On what it means to be an immigrant in the United States, Dee says that she “has grit” and she “started working when she was 14.” She and her business partner had the idea for the backpack company when they were planning a trip to Bali and couldn’t find a product that they liked. She sees herself as “someone who has signed up for things that scare [her],” like starting a business, and proudly states that she “thrives in the unknown.”

Don’t miss Dee compete as an original member of the Reba tribe sporting this season’s red buff when “Survivor 45” premieres on Wednesday, September 27. The new season features 18 new players divided into three tribes: Belo, Lulu, and Reba. Do you think Dee will be the newest champion?
