The city of Sarasota has been listed on a new national ranking, but this time, it's not the usual best places to retire ranking prompting the attention. Instead, Sarasota has earned a spot on a list of the Top 10 best cities in the United States to party, according to the website BonusFinder.com.

Sarasota cracked the top five, ranking as the fourth-best party city in the country, according to the website's survey of over 100 U.S. cities. Criteria such as the number of live music events, bars, hotels, nightclubs, casinos, adult entertainment venues and late-night restaurants helped to determine the list of 10 hotspot cities.

The survey analyzed a total of 100 cities and collected data, including population figures for U.S. cities, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, as well as the number of music events listed on Eventbrite across a weekend in each city, before compiling the final list of 10 cities it found to be the best spots to enjoy a weekend.

Additional information such as the average cost of an alcoholic beverage, hotel price and the cost of an Uber or cab ride from the airport to the city center was also included. The data was then compared to the locations’ population, and time of last orders, to reveal which cities are the top for partying.

Sarasota earned an 8.5 out of 10 score according to the survey.

Key metrics such as the city's affordable drinks, hotel, and taxi prices per 10,000 people, landed Sarasota higher on the party scene compared with other cities in the U.S.

Sarasota joined the cities of Miami Beach; Atlantic City, New Jersey; Hoboken, New Jersey; and Miami rounded out the top five on the list.

The research aimed to uncover where the best chances of having a good time would be "without the endless lines of queues to get in somewhere" according to the report.
