Suri Cruise Spotted on the Streets of NYC Days Before Her 18th Birthday & Yes, You’re That Old

I know, I know, I know. It’s probably not what you wanted to hear. (It’s not what I wanted to hear!) But somehow the little girl above — who was so famed in infancy — is about to turn 18 on April 18! Ahead of her milestone birthday, the notoriously private teen was spotted in New York City. And we have to wonder if this rare public outing was part of some birthday celebrations with the friends she met up with.
Unsurprisingly, Suri looked just like her mom Katie Holmes. The two are practically twins! You can see the paparazzi photos HERE. And, as in the past, she emulated her mom’s style, re-wearing her Birkenstocks (see them HERE and HERE) while also rocking a red striped cardigan, a white silk skirt, and simple barrettes.

Questions loom over what Suri’s 18th birthday will mean for her relationship with her estranged father, Tom Cruise. Cruise is one of the leading figures in Scientology, and while Holmes is believed to have signed documents preventing her from talking about her former marriage to Cruise and time inside the Church of Scientology, Suri will likely be able to talk about her father and their separation (it’s believed they haven’t seen each other since 2012 when her parents divorced) once she’s a legal adult
“Suri would have been too young to sign any agreement, but she will now be free to talk if she wants to and it’s going to be really interesting if she has something to say,” Tony Ortega, a seasoned Scientology reporter previously said.
In “normal” situations, Scientologists are not allowed to speak to family members who left the Church, but the rules will likely be bent for Cruise.
“If you are a regular church member you could be told to disconnect from your wife and daughter, but because Tom is a celebrity — he’s the top celebrity — he gets to ignore all this stuff,” Ortega told Page Six. “Your average member would be kicked out, but [the leader of Scientology] David Miscavige can’t do that with Tom.”
So who knows, maybe Cruise will reach out to his estranged daughter on Thursday for her Big Day. And maybe she will have a lot to share with the world.
