Here’s when the new ‘Superman’ movie will shoot in Cleveland and how to sign up to be an extra
CLEVELAND (WJW) — An official casting call from a local talent agency tells us when the new “Superman” movie will be filming in Cleveland and Cincinnati.
North Olmsted-based Angela Boehm Casting on Tuesday put out an official casting call for stand-ins and extras to be part of the Warner Bros. feature film called “Genesis.”

We now know that to be the working title for director James Gunn’s entry in the franchise, which was formerly titled “Superman: Legacy” and is now simply titled “Superman.”
The film’s Cleveland shooting dates are June 17 to July 16, according to the notice. Shooting will then move to Cincinnati from July 17 to July 18.
Background extras will be paid $12 per hour, with eight hours of pay guaranteed, for a total of $96. Filming days take about 12 to 14 hours.
For stand-ins — people used to “stand in” for cast members during lighting or camera adjustments — the pay is $13 per hour, with eight hours of pay guaranteed, for a total of $104.
Stand-ins must have “extreme flexibility” in availability and will work directly with the director and main cast members. Interviews may also be required.
For both jobs, overtime pay begins after eight hours.
There’s also a need for children in background roles. They must have a parent or guardian on set at all times during filming.

The film is a homecoming of sorts for Superman (AKA Clark Kent; AKA Kal-El, the Last Son of Krypton) who was created by Clevelanders Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1933, while they were at Glenville High School, according to Case Western Reserve University.
The production “Genesis” was awarded $11 million in state tax credits earlier this year and is expected to hire about 3,200 local residents. It has a total budget of more than $363 million — a bit higher than Zack Snyder’s “Justice League” in 2017.
David Corenswet has reportedly been cast as the titular hero, receiving the iconic red cape from Henry Cavill, the last actor to portray the Man of Steel on the big screen in “Justice League.”
“Superman” is slated to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
