Superman & Lois: 5 Things We Want to See in the Final Season (and 1 We DON’T)

Ten episodes. That’s how long we have left to spend with Superman & Lois in 2024, and we’re heading into the CW drama’s just-announced final season with a few humble requests.

More from TVLine

Our Season 4 wishlist includes more screen time for the show’s titular lovebirds, a long-overdue suit for Clark’s super-powered progeny, one last Arrowverse mention, and closure for the many characters being demoted from series regulars to recurring (aka anyone who isn’t a Kent or a Luthor).

Read on for the five things we’d like to see in Superman & Lois’ final season, as well as the one thing we hope does not come to pass. When you’re done, drop a comment with your own requests for the show’s impending swan song below.

WANT: More #Clois Than We Can Handle

WANT: More #Clois Than We Can Handle

The one thing on which (most) Superman & Lois fans seem to agree is that the show is at its best when Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch’s chemistry is allowed to shine. It’s what instantly hooked us back in Season 1, and their shared screen time was the silver lining of Lois’ devastating cancer storyline in Season 3. Now that Lois is healthy again, and so many of the show’s supporting characters will be M.I.A., the stage is set for a Lois and Clark-centric final season — all the better that they’ll get to team up against Lex Luthor, their one mutual arch nemesis.

WANT: A Proper Superboy Suit for Jordan

WANT: A Proper Superboy Suit for Jordan

Frankly, we can’t believe we even have to say this one, but we do. Why? Because even after fighting crime by his father’s side for multiple seasons, Jordan Kent is still dressing like… this. The poor guy deserves better than a drab suit and an ugly pair of goggles. At least slap an “S” on that thing!

WANT: A Storyline (Any Storyline!) for Jonathan

WANT: A Storyline (Any Storyline!) for Jonathan

Jonathan may not have inherited his father’s powers, but that doesn’t mean his storylines need to be super boring. Either find a way to bring him into the crime-fighting fold once and for all, or give him something interesting to do on his own. We can’t continue to pretend to care about his firefighting aspirations. We just can’t.

WANT: Meaningful Returns From Familiar Faces

The announcement of Superman & Lois‘ fourth season included the departures of eight series regulars: everyone photographed above, along with Chad L. Coleman as Bruno Mannheim. While the hope is that we’ll see some, if not all, of these characters make guest appearances next season, none of their returns are guaranteed, despite the many loose ends they left behind.

Do we need to see Chrissy and Kyle in Lamaze class? No. But would we like an update on Sam, who was last seen being kidnapped by one of Lex’s goons? Absolutely. We’d also like to spend more time with Lana and John Henry, whose relationship was off to a red-hot start last season, and Sarah, especially now that she knows the Kents’ family secret.

WANT: One Last Nod to the Arrowverse

While we’re pouring one out for Superman & Lois, it’s also worth acknowledging that its impending series finale will mark the end of The CW’s Greg Berlanti-produced Arrowverse, which has spanned more than 40 seasons across seven shows since 2012.

It could be (and has been) argued that the Arrowverse already ended earlier this year with The Flash‘s series finale, largely because Superman & Lois is set in a universe adjacent to the one in which Hoechlin’s Man of Steel was first introduced via Supergirl in 2016.

But there’s no denying Superman & Lois‘ place in the collective, so even if it’s merely a passing mention, we’d love one last acknowledgment of what (and who) else is out there.

DON’T WANT: A Convenient Time Jump

DON’T WANT: A Convenient Time Jump

Superman and Doomsday’s melee on the moon was an epic ending to Season 3, and we need to see it play out in real time. The final season’s significant budget cuts will certainly present a challenge in recreating the cinematic feel of the fight, but even an abbreviated conclusion would be better than simply hearing about the outcome (whatever it may be!) after a time jump.
