Supergravity Pictures Taps Producer Cody Zwieg as Head of Development and Production

Supergravity Pictures, the digital-focused studio formed last year, has hired Cody Zwieg — a producer whose credits include Blumhouse Prods.’ “Lazarus Effect” and Wes Craven’s “The Hills Have Eyes” — as senior VP of development and production.

Zwieg most recently worked with Jason Blum on horror-thriller “Lazarus Effect.” He also previously served as VP of production and development at Craven’s Midnight Entertainment and was exec producer on “Apollo 18” for Dimension Films.

The company also has hired Mike Flavin as director of development. Flavin hails from Cider Mill Pictures, where he served a similar role, and previously was a creative exec at State Street Pictures.

“Cody and Mike have unbelievable creative taste, vast experience and great relationships,” said Supergravity’s Marc Hustvedt, who co-founded the company with Max Benator.

Supergravity’s backers include Otter Media, the digital-video joint venture of Chernin Group and AT&T. Otter Media recently took a minority stake in the studio and also entered into a co-production deal.

Supergravity has released buddy comedy “Man Up,” starring Justin Chon and Kevin Wu, in partnership with Lakeshore Entertainment; and last month debuted horror movie “The Chosen,” featuring YouTube star Kian Lawley, at VidCon 2015. Both films are part of an exclusive four-movie distribution deal with Vimeo.
