Supergirl Season 7 Release Date Rumors: Is It Coming Out?

Supergirl ended its sixth season in November 2021 and since then fans of Melissa Benoist’s take on Kara Danvers, aka Supergirl, have wondered whether or not the show will get a seventh season and if they will see Kara fight against more threats.

Is there a Supergirl Season 7 release date?

Supergirl Season 7 does not have a release date as it will not be happening. The CW has confirmed that the series has ended after a six-season television run.

The reason why Supergirl was not picked up for another season after Season 6 is because the show got extremely low ratings as it reached its sixth season. The viewership for Supergirl peaked at 3 million during the show’s second season run but faced a huge and significant drop by the time of the fifth season. However, Jesse Rath, who played Brainiac 5 did reveal in a UK superhero convention, The Ultimates, that there was a plan for a seventh season to happen but without Melissa Benoist’s involvement, only for The CW to reject the idea.

The production of Season 6 was complicated due to the global health pandemic and Melissa Benoist’s pregnancy. There were multiple delays and various other production problems. This all likely contributed to Supergirl’s cancellation after six seasons.

Supergirl’s cast includes Melissa Benoist, Chyler Leigh, David Harewood, Katie McGrath, Mehcad Brooks, Jeremy Jordan, Jesse Rath, Nicole Maines, and Chris Wood, among other cast members.

Where is Supergirl Season 7 coming out?

Supergirl Season 7 isn’t confirmed to be released on The CW.

The official synopsis for Supergirl reads:

“Twenty-four-year-old Kara Zor-El, who was taken in by the Danvers family when she was 13 after being sent away from Krypton, must learn to embrace her powers after previously hiding them. The Danvers teach her to be careful with her powers until she has to reveal them during an unexpected disaster, setting her on her journey of heroism.”
