'Supergirl' casts Chris Wood in super secret role

Even though Containment has ended, Chris Wood will be sticking around The CW.

EW has confirmed that the Vampire Diaries alum has joined the second season of Supergirl as a series regular. As first reported by TVLine, Wood will play a DC Comics character who has not yet been revealed. His first appearance will be early in the season.

Could Wood’s character have something to do with the newest arrival to National City? The first season of Supergirl ended with a Kryptonian pod, similar to the one that transported Kara (Melissa Benoist), crash-landing on Earth. Kara gasped when the pod opened.

Wood is joining a growing list of newcomers to the series, which moved to The CW after airing its first season CBS. The other new additions to include Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf) as Superman, Floriana Lima as National City Police Department Detective Maggie Sawyer, Cougar Town alum Ian Gomez as journalist Snapper Carr, and former Wonder Woman Lynda Carter as the President of the United States.

Supergirl returns Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
