This super aesthetic Phoenix restaurant and cocktail bar closed after less than a year
Teddy’s Preserve, an indoor-outdoor bar that was opened in February 2023 by the owners of Rough Rider in downtown Phoenix has closed after 10 months.
In an Instagram post, dated Dec. 17, the owners made the announcement.“This weekend marks the start of a new chapter in this space. Teddy’s Preserve will be closing as of today to make way for new ownership and a new concept set to open in early 2024. For all the people that made Teddy’s what it was, from our amazing staff to our beloved guests, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the fun we had along the way.”
The cocktail bar was meant to be a sunny counterpart to the dark, moody basement bar Rough Rider, though still inspired by the former president, specifically Roosevelt's national parks legacy. The owners leveled the parking lot and planted trees to provide a view for the airy space.
According to co-owner Kyla Hein, it was a tough decision for their partnership. “We loved the space and our amazing team there so much,” she said in a statement to The Republic. “But it was a really rough summer and after the remodel it just never recovered financially.”
The bar’s majority owner Matt Fulton is signing on with a new team and plans to open a more casual concept in the space in early 2024 that will feature sports on multiple screens and bar snacks.
