Sunset cocktails, anyone? Nashville ranks high in rooftop drinking

Rooftop drinking? Nashville can hang with the best of them, according to a new ranking by Roof Gnome.

Music City ranked in the top ten for overall best rooftop drinking, holding its own against larger cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington, D.C.

Nashville was also ranked 5th for the most rooftop bars.

Roof Gnome is a website connecting consumers to roofing professionals. The company determined the best cities for rooftop drinking by comparing 300 of the country's largest cities on 18 different metrics, including consumer ratings, affordability and climate.

About Nashville's ranking

Nashville won points for sheer number of rooftop bars, ranking 5th in that metric. Points were also given for the number of hotels with rooftop bars, a category in which Nashville ranked 3rd.

The city also ranked 3rd for the number of top-rated rooftop bars, garnering a 4.5-star average rating.

Nashville got dinged for overall share of affordability and number of extremely hot days.

The city was also ranked the highest against other Tennessee cities. Franklin, TN won points for highest average consumer ranking for rooftop bars (tying for 2nd place).
