Sunny Hostin explains why she's wearing a wrist cast for an injury on “The View”

Hostin explained what happened to her wrist that led to an injury.

Sunny Hostin has revealed why she's wearing a wrist cast on The View, after sustaining an injury that led to the use of the corrective garment.

"I’ve been a little embarrassed to share this story, but I will tell you what happened. I was taking a virtual — by Zoom — indoor skating class in my home on hardwood floors, along with a group of friends in other places. I got my skates from the attic, and put them on. I was not wearing padding, as was suggested by my husband, and I fell. So, as the adage goes, you play silly games, and you will win silly prizes, and this is my silly prize," Hostin said Thursday on Instagram.

She added that The View's guest Stormy Daniels signed her cast, as did Gisele Bündchen, which Hostin said means that her cast "is history now" — history that she'll have to wear for an additional four weeks.

The show's legal expert debuted the brace earlier this month, and it did not seem to interfere with her performance on the show.

Hostin opened up about sustaining another injury in October, after she attempted to do a split in her home.

"I'm feeling good. I still feel like I'm in pretty good shape, I feel like I've got good knees, I can still do splits. I have proof of it, I did a split just last week," Hostin told her cohosts at the time, clarifying that she'd had two glasses of wine before performing the maneuver. "However, then, my children challenged me last week, and I said, 'Of course I can do a split!' I now have a torn hamstring."

That news came one month after Hostin's son, Gabriel, sustained serious injuries when he was hit by a car in Cambridge, Mass., while riding an electric skateboard in September.

"He got hit by a car, and he flew over the hood of the car, and because he was not wearing the helmet that I bought for him the only way to kind of protect his head was to land on his right shoulder, which he dislocated and we believe is somewhat fractured," Hostin she previously said on the Behind the Table podcast.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
