During a segment on The View Tuesday, Hostin, 55, passionately defended her outfit choices after opening up about being told she dresses "too young."

"I think there are a lot of unhappy trolls in our country right now, and I think we have those X — formerly Twitter — thugs with their keyboard courage that would never say it to your face," said Hostin as the hosts discussed celebrities who have embraced body positivity and aging.

"I'm 55. I get criticized often on these stupid social media things about, 'That's too young for you.' Well, guess what? I don't care. I like to wear what I want to wear," she continued.

After the audience applauded Hostin's comments, she listed the many things she gets criticized about.

"My earrings are too young for me, my outfits are too young for me, my hair is too young for me, my makeup is too young for me. Guess what, again? I don't care," Hostin said. "I've felt better than I've ever felt my entire life, and I'm 55."

Body image was a topic Hostin spoke candidly of with PEOPLE in January 2023 while discussing her decision to get a breast reduction and lift, as well as liposuction, in August 2022.

"I feel like a better version of myself. It was a health decision and a self-care decision," she told PEOPLE.

"I thought I would feel shame, like, 'Oh my God, I'm doing plastic surgery like all these crazy celebrities.' But I don't feel shame at all. And I hope sharing my story will help more people," Hostin said. "If they're feeling so body-conscious, the way I was — they can do what they need to do to feel better."

Body positivity and aging became a topic of conversation on Tuesday's broadcast after Selena Gomez reflected on how her body has changed over the years in two Instagram Story posts.

The actress shared two bathing suit photos on Monday, writing, "Today I realized I will never look like this again… I'm not perfect, but I am proud to be who I am… Sometimes I forget it's ok to be me."
