Sundance Film Festival 2016: An Insider’s Party Guide
The 2016 Sundance Film Festival kicks off on Jan. 21 in Park City, Utah — and until Jan. 30, when the winners are announced (by a competitions jury which includes Jon Hamm and Lena Dunham), the ski town will be swarming with Hollywood stars. Here’s where festivalgoers will find talent like Matt Damon (“Manchester by the Sea”), Kristen Stewart (“Certain Women”), Anna Kendrick (“The Hollars”), Michael Shannon (“Complete Unknown”), Kate Beckinsale (“Welcome to the Dollhouse”) and Paul Rudd and Selena Gomez (“The Fundamentals of Caring,” the festival’s closing night choice) — plus some stellar booze, food, snow gear, swag and fun.

Back for the 11th year to mix media and music, the green-themed lodge (with the Mirai, a Toyota hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, on display) will present seven live performances, brand showcases and celebrity interviews. The musical roster includes Grammy-nominated artist Andra Day on Friday at 2:30 p.m., indie pop band Air Traffic Controller on Saturday at 4 p.m., Jamie Bendell on Sunday at 4 p.m. and R. City on Sunday at 5 p.m. An Arctic Blast/ Earth Day Network benefit on Friday at 9 p.m. will also feature music by pop star Peppina and New York singer/songerwriter Natalie Gelman.

Experience the festival through the lens of Samsung, which is offering a full schedule of programming including screenings, Q&As, music performances and an inside look at “GONE” (an original VR thriller from Skybound Entertainment, Wevr and Samsung) — plus cafe items and specialty coffee drinks. A reception at 5 p.m. will kick off the first-ever Samsung studio, and other fun components include a visit from the Funny or Die team, and a special #EmojiAllAccess hashtag (which, upon tweeting, could lead to prizes like helicopter rides for Samsung Galaxy owners).
