How to watch 'The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2' on Amazon Prime right now

Whether you’re in Massachusetts or Arizona, one thing’s for sure: It’s summer.

And with summer comes the beach, the books, the boys and "The Summer I Turned Pretty."

An Amazon Prime Video series adapted from the book trilogy by Jenny Han, "The Summer I Turned Pretty" is about recently grown-up Isabel "Belly" Conklin (Lola Tung), who struggles to deal with her emotions regarding brothers Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney).

The Conklin and Fisher families spend every summer together, but this one is a little different as feelings surface and the boys’ mother, Susannah (Rachel Blanchard), hides a cancer diagnosis.

Season 1 of the show ended with Belly, Jeremiah, Belly’s brother Steven (Sean Kaufman) and mother Laurel (Jackie Chung) finding out about Susannah’s illness. Belly and Conrad also share a kiss after Belly had become a bit more than friends with Jeremiah.

Will 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' Season 2 follow the book?

If the show goes by the books, Season 2 could begin with Belly and Conrad exploring a relationship. This may come to a halt because of Susannah dying of cancer and a distraught Conrad shutting down and refusing to open up to Belly.

This leads to him leaving school and heading for the beach. Belly, alongside Jeremiah, sets out to find Conrad and they end up getting closer, only to find out that the beach house they love is being sold.

After the premiere of the official trailer it seems the show will follow a similar track. One stark difference is that it seems there will be a romance blossoming between Taylor and Steven in the upcoming season, which was not a plot point in the books.

Who is returning to 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' Season 2?

Series regulars Lola Tung, Gavin Casalegno, Christopher Briney, Sean Kaufman, David Iacono (who plays Cam Cameron) and Rain Spencer (who plays Taylor) are expected back for Season 2, as indicated by the promotional poster.

Jackie Chung and Rachel Blanchard also appear in the teaser trailer for the new season. However, it appears that Blanchard's character Susannah may die in the new season, Belly hints at it when she says, "I knew I'd lose Susannah eventually, I just didn't know I'd end up losing all of them," in the official trailer.

We can expect new characters as well. Elsie Fisher is joining the cast as a character named Skye who is new to the franchise. Kyra Sedgwick has been cast, but no word yet on who she is playing.

Why is Shayla not in TSITP Season 2?

The one actress confirmed to not be making a return is Minnie Mills, who played Shayla in the first season.

In an Instagram post, Mills shared on April 19 she thanked her character Shayla for teaching her so much as a person. She went on to say that she was glad to play an Asian character who was “unapologetically herself.” She was also proud to see two Asian characters in a healthy relationship, which she played alongside Kaufman.

She concluded with, “To everyone who loved Shayla, who felt empowered or inspired by her, she will always be in the first season for you to come back to whenever you need her, and if I ever get the chance, I would love to continue her story.”

Cast members Kaufman, Casalegno, Tung and Briney showed their support for Mills in the comments.

Does Belly end up with Conrad or Jeremiah?

We don't know any spoilers about this season. But if the show remains true to the books, we could see Belly exploring relationships with both boys.

Where is TSITP set?

"The Summer I Turned Pretty" takes place in the fictional town of Cousins Beach with inspiration drawn from many East Coast beach towns. The scenes were filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina, and nearby beaches such as Carolina Beach and Kure Beach.

Taylor Swift songs in 'The Summer I Turned Pretty'

The teaser trailer for TSITP Season 2 features the song "August" from Swift’s eighth album, "Folklore."

The actual Season 2 trailer included "Back to December (Taylor's Version)" from Swift's newly released "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)."

Season 1 included “Cruel Summer,” “Lover” and “False God” from Swift’s seventh album, "Lover," as well as the unreleased “This Love (Taylor’s Version)” from "1989" and “The Way I Loved You (Taylor’s Version)” from "Fearless (Taylor’s Version)."

"The Summer I Turned Pretty" streams on Amazon Prime Video. The first three episodes of Season 2 are streaming now. A new episode will drop every Friday until Aug. 18.
