Summer concerts are back by popular demand at the Gaston County Museum this summer

After an eight-year hiatus, Blues Out Back is making a comeback at the Gaston County Museum.

According to Patricia Rudisill, the museum’s marketing and development coordinator, the concerts are back by popular demand.

“The museum did this music series for a number of years, and we stopped probably eight years ago, I guess,” she said. “It was always really popular, lots of fun, very family friendly event, and it’s in the back courtyard of the museum… We decided the time was right to bring it back”

Despite the name, Blues Out Back is not limited to Blues music.

According to Rudisill, the music ranges from folk to cover bands and beyond.

Dates and artists

This summer, the Gaston County Museum will host four concerts as part of its Blues Out Back series this summer.

From 6-9 p.m. on June 1, visitors can listen to Anna Holloway’s electric and acoustic guitars and vocal covers of Melissa Ethridge, Stevie Nicks, Tracy Chapman and others.

Following Holloway, Trace Casanova will perform a range of genres and styles from covers of Frank Sinatra to Sweet Child of Mine.

From 6-9 p.m. on July 6 The Riverside Boys will perform classic rock and country hits.

From 6-9 p.m. Aug. 3, Gaston County Native Dave Killian will perform songs based in genres like acoustic rock, blues and alternative rock.

Killian is a multi-instrument musician with more than 20 years in the music scene, according to a press release from the museum.

Rounding out the summer, The GIFTT will perform at the final Blues Out Back concert of 2024 from 6-9 p.m. on Sept. 7.

Admission and details

Admission for concertgoers 13 or older that are not museum members is $5, museum members get in free.

The museum encourages visitors to bring a lawn chair to the event.

There will be at least one food truck on site.

“It’s rain or shine,” Rudisill said. “It’s just a really nice way to spend a Saturday evening on the court square in Dallas.”
