Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht are sharing their thoughts on Suits‘ streaming success over the summer, and whether or not they would reprise their characters for the potential spinoff series that would be set in the Suits universe.

The former co-stars, who were also presenting at the 2024 Golden Globes on Sunday, said on the red carpet to Variety that they were “very grateful” for the resurgence in the show’s popularity after it began streaming on Netflix (in addition to Peacock) in June. The series originally aired on the USA Network from 2011 to 2019.

“You know, it’s an amazing thing,” Macht said. “We had some great success when the show was on and all over the world, there were people downloading it, pirate downloading it. And then at a certain point, Netflix came in and said, ‘Why don’t we put this out there?’ And it’s just got incredible eyes and we’re very grateful for it.”

Following the nine-season show breaking streaming records for several weeks last year, it was revealed that series creator Aaron Korsh is in the early stages of developing a companion series set in the Suits universe. The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that the show would feature new characters, in a new setting, and will most likely be set in Los Angeles.

When Adams and Macht were asked if they would reprise their roles, Mike Ross and Harvey Specter, respectively, Adams proceeded to express his love and appreciation for the character.

“If I got the phone call, I’m ready to suit up again,” he said. “I love the show, I love the character and I loved working with all these people.”

Few details have been released about the potential spinoff, and the former stars added that they also haven’t been told anything. But Adams noted that he could see Mike and Rachel (Meghan Markle), who are living in Seattle, maybe “come down to L.A. They gotta fix some stuff.”

Later, during the ceremony, several of the Suits castmembers also surprised fans with a mini reunion while presenting the Golden Globe for best TV series, drama.

When Adams and Macht initially took to the stage, Macht said, “There’s nothing more dramatic or anxiety-inducing than waiting all night to hear that your category has finally arrived.” Adams added, in a thinly veiled reference to the show’s recent resurgence, years after it ended, “Yes, that’s true. It’s hard to imagine having to wait so long to see your show get that kind of recognition.”

As the duo started to get sidetracked, Gina Torres and Sarah Rafferty, who played Jessica Pearson and Donna Paulsen, respectively, joined them onstage to remind them to present the nominees.

Suits is currently steaming on Netflix and Peacock.
