Kelly Clarkson is probably squealing with excitement after Abigail Spencer visited The Kelly Clarkson Show and delivered an unexpected message. Meghan Markle is apparently a big American Idol fan, and back in 2002, she was busy voting for the wildly successful pop star.

Spencer was on the Monday, Feb. 26 episode with Donald Fusion to promote her new NBC show, Extended Family. The conversation turned to the Duchess of Sussex, who is still a close friend of the sitcom star. In addition to spilling the tea that Michael Bublé was talking about Clarkson being “the greatest singer on earth” while he had dinner with Meghan and Prince Harry, Spencer also delivered the cutest message from her pal. “Meg says hello and that she loves you and that she voted for you on American Idol,” she added.

“It worked!” Clarkson laughed about her Season 1 win on the competition show.

What’s interesting about Spencer’s revelation is that she might be the only cast member who has Meghan’s updated number. Gina Torres told Variety in early January that the Duchess of Sussex was not involved in the Suits‘ cast group chat. They had spent considerable time over the summer “texting each other” to discuss the success of the show on Netflix and Peacock without Meghan. “We don’t have her number,” Torres explained. “We just don’t. So she’ll see, she’ll watch. She’ll be happy that we’re here.” Well, it looks like Spencer has her number, but she isn’t sharing it with the others right now.

Now that it’s been revealed that Meghan stans Clarkson, we have to wonder if the PR teams from both sides are reaching out to book an upcoming interview. It would make the daytime landscape very buzz-worthy if that happened. In the meantime, royal fans will have to savor the tidbit about Spencer’s friendship with Meghan and how it blossomed over the years.

“It was 2007, I was doing a pilot for NBC, and I went to read with the people who were supposed to play my best friend. They were testing other actresses,” Spencer recalled “I walk in, I see this beautiful, gorgeous creature at the end of the table and I’m like, ‘Who is that?’ We had an immediate something, you know? And her name is Meghan Markle.” They “immediately had a connection” and found out they shared the same birthday. Suits brought them back together in 2011 and that’s where a lifelong bond began. “Our friendship really developed during that time, and deepened,” Spencer summed up. “She’s an incredible person.”
