The streaming boys of summer are back. The 2024 Golden Globes staged a reunion of Suits stars Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht who teamed up to present the final TV award of the night, Outstanding Drama Series. The two were later joined by fellow original Suits cast members Sarah Rafferty, currently co-starring in the breakout new Netflix series My Life With the Walter Boys, and Gina Torres, now on 9-1-1: Lone Star.

The reunion came four years after Suits ended its run on USA Network and months after the legal drama found new global audience on Netflix, setting streaming records as the top series of the summer.

The series’ newfound success was referenced by Adams.

“There’s nothing more dramatic or anxiety-inducing than waiting all night to hear that your category is finally arrived,” Macht said when the two took the stage, to which Adams replied, “Yes, that’s true. It’s hard to imagine having to wait so long to see your show get that kind of recognition.”

The line, which Adams came up with himself, got a big laugh from the audience.

In light of Suits‘ resurgence, NBC has in the works a spinoff, tentatively titled Suits: Los Angeles, from series’ creator Aaron Korsh. It will feature new characters though some originals could pop in. Adams is among those open to reprising his role on the new show.

Adams and Macht starred together on Suits as corporate lawyers Mike Ross and Harvey Specter, respectively, for seven seasons until Adams exited in early 2018 alongside co-star Meghan Markle, who played his on-screen love interest.

Macht stayed on for Suits‘ entire nine-season run, with Adams returning for the series finale in 2019 to give Mike and Harvey’s story a closure as they reunite and start working together. Rafferty played Harvey’s loyal confident and eventual wife Donna for the entire run of the series; Torres played the law firm’s managing partner Jessica for the first six seasons before leaving to headline her own spinoff, Pearson.

Notably missing from the reunion was Markle, who was mentioned in Golden Globes host Jo Kay’s opening monologue.

“Harry and Meghan Markle got paid millions for doing absolutely nothing – and that’s just by Netflix,” he told the crowd to a laugh, referring to the duo’s rich deal with the streamer.

The Suits cast and crew also attended together Markle’s wedding to Prince Harry in 2018.
