Sturgill Simpson Releases Cuttin’ Grass Vol. 2 – The Cowboy Arms Sessions : Listen

Sturgill Simpson has released the next edition of his Cuttin’ Grass series, following October’s Vol 1. – The Butcher Shoppe Sessions. The new one, Vol. 2 – The Cowboy Arms Sessions, includes “Call to Arms,” “Oh Sarah,” and “Keep It Between the Lines.” Listen to the whole thing below.

“On Volume 2, we recorded everything I was too afraid to do on Volume 1. It’s hard to deny that this is a much more personal record. I was thinking about my kids, my grandfather, my wife,” Simpson said in a statement about the project.

Vol. 2 features a returning crew of celebrated bluegrass players who were also involved in Vol. 1, including mandolin player Sierra Hull, guitarist Tim O’Brien, and fiddler Stuart Duncan.

Prior to the Cuttin’ Grass records, Simpson released his album SOUND & FURY last year with an anime film and, later, a graphic novel.
