Stunning“ Jurassic Park: Survival ”game trailer teases what happened to velociraptor in freezer

The jaw-dropping 'Jurassic Park: Survival' video game teaser offers an inside look at Isla Nublar immediately after the events of the 1993 blockbuster movie.

The absolutely jaw-dropping Jurassic Park: Survival video game trailer is a clever girl, indeed.

Outside of dropping players into a terrifying first-person adventure in which bloodthirsty dinosaurs stalk their every move, the teaser trailer introduces a playable environment set immediately after the events of Steven Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster movie Jurassic Park — with a focus on a key scene from the movie that details what happened to the velociraptor previously locked in a freezer by Lex (Ariana Richards) and Tim (Joseph Mazzello).

Unveiled Thursday at the 2023 Game Awards ceremony, the Jurassic Park: Survival trailer follows a British doctor left behind on Isla Nublar, shortly after Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), John Hammond (Richard Attenborough), Tim, and Lex departed the planned tourist attraction overrun by dinosaurs that escaped their enclosures.

The preview's opening sequence shows other iconic elements from the original film, including one of the leftover SUVs that appeared during the film's infamous T-rex attack scene, as well as Dr. Grant's hat on the muddy ground below.

As the game's central character makes her way through the in-universe Jurassic Park welcome center, she's stalked by a Dilophosaurus (perhaps the same one that killed Wayne Knight's Dennis Nedry), which corners her in the same kitchen that hosted the film's memorable battle between Lex, Tim, and a pair of hungry raptors.

The duel culminated in the movie with Lex and Tim locking one of the raptors inside a cold storage freezer — the same unit fans can see at the end of the Survival trailer. The clip closes with the door pushing open, revealing that the velociraptor contained within actually survived.

Jurassic Park: Survival is not the first recent project to remix the legacy of the first film's characters. The 2022 film Jurassic World: Dominion brought back Neill, Dern, and Goldblum in a significant capacity for the first time in years, as Neill and Dern hadn't appeared in a franchise movie since 2001's Jurassic Park III, while Goldblum had a small role in 2018's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
