Student removed after making threats at Culleoka Unit School
A student at Maury County's Culleoka Unit School was removed from class by local authorities after making threats in the school on Wednesday.
Parents received a message from the district at 3:47 p.m. that afternoon, stating that Maury County Public Schools' leadership was made aware of the threat and contacted the sheriff's office.
Jack Cobb, the school district's director of communications confirmed, that no students, educators or staff were harmed regarding the incident, and the student involved was removed from the campus by members of law enforcement that day.
"Everything was handled properly," Cobb said. "Administration notified law enfacement and the situation was under control swiftly."
The school district did not identify the student involved in the incident.
In response, additional deputies were stationed at the school on Thursday, according to the message sent to parents.
Each MCPS school campus has at least one school resource officer on staff.
“If you have any questions please contact our district office,” said Jonathan Barry, MCPS school safety coordinator in the message to parents.
