Stud Muffins opens a new meal prep shop in Cordova. Here's what to expect.

Looking for some new healthy meals? You might want to check out the new Stud Muffins meal prep shop in Cordova.

Stud Muffins owners Molly and Trey Jolly opened the second location of their prepared meal shop on Wednesday, Feb. 7, at 8176 Old Dexter Road.

The Jollys serve ready-to heat and eat dishes like Baked Ziti, Steak Fiesta Bowls and Jamaican Jerk Chicken. Each is made with twists to make them healthier. Expect to find 25 to 30 different options for pickup ready to reheat. Most options are refrigerated, with a few items (such as casseroles) available frozen.

The couple started their meal prep business as a side hustle during the COVID pandemic while living in New Albany, Mississippi. They moved to Hernando in 2021 and launched their business there for online orders only. In April 2023, they opened their first shop in Southaven at 5847 Getwell Road.

“We had lots of customers coming from Tennessee,” Molly Jolly said of their reason for opening a location in Shelby County.

At around 1,200 square feet, the newest location is similar in size to the original Southaven location and the couple’s Market23 sandwich and soup shop that opened in December at 2362 McIngvale Road in Hernando.

The one main difference is that the new location also features an acai bar, a feature Molly thinks Memphians will enjoy. Guests will be able to choose from from bowls such as the "Fresh N' Fruity" (a dragon fruit base topped with pineapples, kiwi, strawberries and raspberries) or the "Funky Monkey" (an acai base topped with bananas, granola, peanut butter, Nutella and honey), or have the option to build your own bowl.

Tips for eating healthy

Molly said Stud Muffins was created to help customers eat healthier.

“Portion control is one of the most important — and underrated — things,” she said. “And that is what people are paying us to do.”

She explained that everything at the shop is weighed and labeled so customers can easily track everything from macros to sodium levels.

Stud Muffins also uses substitutions to make dishes lighter and healthier. “From salad dressings to coffee creamers, calories can really swing,” Molly said. “You can make dishes healthier by moving to a cleaner oil or a leaner cut of meat.”

Molly added that everything — from salad dressings to sauces to soups — is made from scratch at Stud Muffins.
