Street rods, superheroes and standup comedy among things to do in Pueblo this weekend
Friday, June 23
Rocky Mountain Street Rod Nationals at Colorado State Fairgrounds
Southwest Motors Event Center, 950 S. Prairie Ave. | 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday | This annual event is a gathering of more than 2,000 classic and custom cars from throughout the country, including 30-plus-year-old street rods, muscle cars, hot rods as well as classic cars and trucks. Spotlight Builder will be Keven Zerby of Canon City. Manufacturers and distributors will show off their latest automotive parts and accessories, and local crafters will host a “Women’s World” arts and craft show in the Creative Arts building. Live entertainment will run 6-9 p.m., Friday and Saturday. Admission is $19 for visitors age 13 and older; $17 for active military or those 60 and older, and $6 for children ages 6-12. Children 5 and younger are admitted free.
Superhero Night at The Rides at City Park
3425 Nuckolls Ave. | 5-9 p.m. | Come dressed up as your favorite superhero. Staff also will be in costume so you can take selfies with The Rides at City Park's operators. Cost is 25 cents per ride.
Standup comedy with Chris D'Elia at Pueblo Memorial Hall
1 City Hall Place | Doors open 7 p.m., show at 8 p.m. | Chris D'Elia is a popular standup comedian who has a podcast and comedy specials on Netflix. Tickets range from $30.50 to $103 and are available at pueblomemorialhall.com.
Dance performance at Sangre de Cristo Arts Center
210 N. Santa Fe Ave. | 7:30 p.m. | The Evolve Dance Project and students will present the Summer Intensive 2023 performance. Dancers also will be performing a few pieces from "Smoke Screen." The event is free.
Saturday, June 24
Pueblo West Concert Series at Civic Center Park
61 E. Civic Center Plaza | Cornhole Tournament at 10 a.m., all other activities from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. with concert in the evening | Kids activities, carnival games, live music, food trucks, beer garden and yard games. Classic rock band Knuckin' Futz will perform. The event is free.
Fiesta Queen Scholarship Pageant at Colorado State University Pueblo
Hoag Hall, 2200 Bonforte Blvd. | 1 p.m. | Twelve contestants will vie for the Fiesta Queen title. Future fiesta queens ages 12 and younger can participate in the princess parade while wearing their favorite dress and tiara. Cost is $5 per person.

The band has crafted a unique and extraordinary style of music that expertly fuses Tejano conjunto music, Norteño folk rhythms, pop ballads and rock. Breakfast Fundraiserat Shrine of St. Therese
300 Goodnight Avenue | 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. | Knights of Columbus will host the breakfast featuring scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, coffee and orange juice. Cost is $8 and take out is available.
Vacation Bible School at Wesley United Methodist Church
85 Stanford Ave. | 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily, June 25-29 | All children in the community are invited to participate free of charge. The school will focus on Bible Heroes through stories in both the Old and New Testaments. A morning snack and lunch are included. Call 719-561-8746 for reservations.

Liverpool Legends at Pueblo Memorial Hall
1 City Hall Place | Doors open at 6 p.m., show at 7 p.m. | The Liverpool Legends are four talented musicians/actors put together by Louise Harrison, sister of the late George Harrison, to honor her brother’s legacy and to recreate the band that changed the world forever. Experience the complete history of The Beatles, starting with the early mop-top hits, such as "I Want to Hold Your Hand" through the psychedelic era of Sgt. Pepper and in the end, sing and dance to classics like "Get Back," "Here Comes the Sun" and "Hey Jude." Cost ranges from $48-$93 and tickets are on sale at pueblomemorialhall.com.

Great Race stops at Pueblo Union Depot
132 W. B St. | 4 p.m. | The 2023 Hemmings Motor News Great Race will bring 125 race teams for an overnight stop in Puebo. The time, speed and endurance rally involves 1974 or older collector vehicles. The race runs from St. Augustine, Florida to Colorado Springs. Teams from Japan, England, Australia, Canada, and every corner of the United States race with vintage automobiles dating back as far as 1916. The 2023 winners will receive $50,000 of the $160,000 total purse. A 1916 Hudson Pikes Peak Hill climber, a 1916 Chevrolet and a 1917 American LaFrance are the oldest cars in the event. All cars are scheduled to be on display at the stop. The event is free and open to the public.
Wednesday, July 5
Ladies Night Pinball Tourney at Flip a Coin Arcade Bar
223 S. Union Ave. | 6:30 registration, tournament runs to 9 p.m. | The arcade bar located in the basement of Bite Me Cake Co. will host the women's-only tournament on the first Wednesday of each month. There is a $10 entry fee plus the cost of games. Drink specials will be available during the tournament that's sponsored by New Belgium Brewing. Event is open to ladies of all ages and skill levels, but minors must be accompanied by an adult. Men are welcome to play games upstairs. Players are paired randomly and there is a 100% payback to the top players.
