A Street in Queens, NY Has Officially Been Named After Phife Dawg

Located on the corner of 192nd Street and Linden Boulevard now is Malik "Phife Dawg" Taylor Way.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Phife Dawg would have a street in the St. Albans neighborhood of Queens, New York co-named after him. At the intersection of Linden Boulevard and 192nd Street, the late rapper was officially immortalized at the unveiling ceremony earlier today: Linden Boulevard is now also known as Malik "Phife Dawg" Taylor Way.

Joined by Q-Tip, Jarobi, and Phife's family were hundreds of A Tribe Called Quest fans for the momentous occasion. Prior to the actual unveiling of the sign, Jarobi reflected on how "some of [his] dudes who [he had] logged mad hours" on that exact street corner, Pitchfork reports.

"[People] get murals and tributes to them all over the place," Jarobi continued in amazement, "but to have a mural on the very block, the very street that we walked every day? Wrote rhymes up and down this block, battle people, have people come from other neighborhoods to battle me and Phife—you know, all kinds of stuff."

A Tribe Called Quest released their sixth and final album, We Got It From Here... Thank You 4 Your Service, featuring recorded verses from Phife earlier this month. The surviving members of the legendary group also made their Saturday Night Live debut during which a banner of Phife was lowered when his verse played.
