Streatham Hill stabbing: Police hunt attacker who stabbed woman pushing her child in a buggy
A woman stabbed in front of her child in a brutal “unprovoked attack” in south London is “doing well” as she recovers in hospital, her father-in-law has said.
The 36-year-old woman, named in reports as Josephine Conlon, was taken to hospital after the shocking incident during which the attacker reportedly knifed her three times from behind before running off.
Her child was not injured in the attack, police said.
Witnesses reportedly described seeing Mrs Conlon hunched over the pushchair with blood “pouring down her face”
Her father-in-law, who is believed to have been visiting her and her husband when the attack happened, told MailOnline she was still in hospital but “doing well”.

In a statement, the Met Police said: “Officers were called at 5.23pm on December 30, to a report of a 36-year-old woman stabbed in Downton Avenue, Streatham Hill.
“The woman was taken to hospital. Her injuries have been assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing.
It went on: “The stabbing occurred as the victim was pushing her child in a pushchair. The child was not injured.
“She was attacked from behind by a lone suspect, described as a black man, around 6ft tall and wearing dark clothing.
“The man did not speak as he stabbed the victim three times before running off down Downton Avenue away from the High Road.
“Detectives from South Area CID are investigating. Extensive enquiries, including forensic work and CCTV analysis, are ongoing. At this stage, officers retain an open mind as to any motive.
“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.”

‘More than 140’ homicides in London in 2019
The stabbing is the latest in a bloody year for the capital. On Christmas Eve, Flamur Beqiri, 36, was gunned down outside his home in Battersea, south-west London.
His death was the 142nd homicide in London in 2019, according to analysis by the PA news agency – the highest number in a calendar year since 2008.
Last year, there were 141 police-recorded homicides in the capital, according to Home Office statistics.
