Judas and the Black Messiah is sure to be an award season darling, so if you like to keep up with buzzy movies, add this one to your weekend watch-list. The film, starring Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) and Lakeith Stanfield (Sorry to Bother You), focuses on as two men get caught up in a movement.

Kaluuya plays the electrifying and charismatic Chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panthers, Fred Hampton. Hampton has been dubbed a “Black Messiah” by J. Edgar Hoover (played by Martin Sheen). They want to bring young Hampton down in the late 1960s because they believe he can drum up violence for his cause.

With the Messiah identified, there has to be a Judas. Petty criminal William O’Neal (Stanfield) is charged with joining the Hampton’s chapter of the Black Panthers. Inside, he’ll spy on Hampton and give the FBI the ammo they need to bring him down. O’Neal becomes conflicted as he learns more about the organization—and terrified when he finds out what happens to spies in the Black Panthers organization.

Stanfield and Kaluuya first shared the screen together in Get Out, so this reunion is worth watching. Their performances have already received rave reviews.
